- Reaction mechanism analysis and new designs of high energy density and high power density energy storage devices such as lithium-based batteries (including Li-Air and Li-systems), supercapacitors, pseudo capacitors and hydrogen storage media

- Efficiency increase of thermoelectric devices and photovoltaic devices (including water splitting) using new materials and/or various novel hybrid structures, as well as new energy saving methods
